Muddy Muckers Course Review

By OCR Scotland

Last Sunday a group made up by the OCR Scotland Team, our competition winners and some invited guests took on the Muddy Muckers Assault course in Cumbernauld.

The facility was easy to find, just a 10 minute drive from the M80 motorway. There was plenty of parking available as well as an onsite café and changing rooms. The staff were very friendly and after a short registration process we were ready to hit the course.

This was the first time any of us had been here, and we weren’t sure what to expect. The course was definitely bigger than we anticipated and boasted a 2km route with 22 challenging obstacles. The first lap is an instructor led lap, including a couple of team photos and a GoPro video of the lap – some very good keepsakes of the day. You are then allowed to do as many additional laps as you want.

The start was a small hill climb meaning that what lay ahead was a mystery, and the whole course was looped in a way that gave a sustained element of surprise, and we don’t want to ruin that for anyone that is going to try the course.

What we will tell you is that the course has many of the key obstacles that are common in races, providing a good opportunity to practice your techniques. It is suitable for all ability levels, with many of the obstacles having multiple difficulty options available. The terrain is tough with a good mixture of mud, water and hills – you definitely will need to take a change of clothes.

Our team very impressed with the course and the facility as a whole. The course proved to be a tough challenge, particularly on our later laps when taking it at race speed. The staff are were brilliant and very helpful.
