Over the last few years OCR in Scotland has grown rapidly, all thanks to the passion and commitment of Race Directors, Marshals, Sponsors and most importantly Runners. Scotland is now one of the fastest growing OCR communities as well as the best place in the world to race (in our unbiased opinion).
The launch of the OCR Awards will help recognise outstanding achievement and contribution to the OCR community, but more importantly it gives us all an excuse to kick of the trainers, get dressed up, and PARTY.
This awards would not have been possible without the support of both the OCR community and our Sponsors, so please keep reading to find out about the people who made this all possible. . .
Not only are Entry Central supporting our event, but they already play an important role for many of the Scottish race organisers. They are the only Scottish based company that provide secure, simple, low cost online entry for entrants and organisers, securely managing over ten thousand sign-ups every month, from OCR to motorcross and from Orkney to Cornwall.
Brocket Gear provide the best collection of trainers, clothing and accessories for obstacle course races, mud runs, zombies runs, ultra marathons, fell and trail running! And they also offer all the OCR Scotland community an exclusive 10% discount code -"OCRSCOT16"
Icebug are a small independent brand who are taking on global brands by creating shoes with real grip, not only on snow and ice but on muddy surfaces and wet rocks. Although fairly new to the UK they have taken the OCR scene by storm and provided the shoes that led athlete Conor Hancock to win the UK Championships, as well as placing 4th in the Worlds. Icebug also supports 2 of our Scottish athletes - Morag Logan and Connor McGourt.
VIRUS made a big impression on the race scene in 2015, providing performance apparel with the latest in nanotechnology, technical fabrics and biomechanical patterning to help push limits. From training to performing to recovery, their offerings will help you in every condition and situation you encounter on your path. Since their launch, VIRUS have been strong supporters of the OCR race scene and supported Scottish Athlete Connor McGourt in achieving a top 20 finish in his first appearance in the World OCR Championships.
You may or may not have heard of them, but they have been working behind the scenes at many of the races over the last year to provide accurate and quickly produced race results. They are also the company that introduced the Strathearn Trail Series - Race 3 to give runners another option while the OCR scene is a bit quiet in Scotland.
Keep it Simple Timing specialise in providing the best value race timing services to organisers of Running (Trail and Road), OCR, Cycling and Triathlon events. Their aim is to enhance the participant experience of each event by providing the most streamlined timing and result service at the best possible price. In 2015 they demonstrated innovative thinking, introducing live GPS tracking to the Scottish OCR scene during the Bing Blazer Park Life event, and I know they also have big plans for 2016.
Amori Ltd provide professional and affordable website design and support. We have personally worked with them over the past year and they are our specialists behind the scenes in the creation of the OCR Scotland website and the awards voting system.
